Health Tip: Nutrient-rich Veggie Water

Tuesday, Dec 29 - 2015

Recently I met a couple in their 80s who have great skin, terrific health and zest for life. I asked them their secret. Besides being avid walkers, they "drink the veggie broth.” at every opportunity.

The trick is to save the cooking water from boiling potatoes or steaming veggies like broccoli or carrots and drink the now vitamin rich water.

(After cooking vegetables in water, be it steaming or boiling, important water soluble vitamins like the Vitamine Bs and C, have leached into the cooking water).

Or you can use the water for soup stock,or in gravy or cook your rice in it.

In this form (better than in pill form) vitamins are easily digested and assimilated. The veggie water can stay in the fridge for up to a week.

If you are feeling fatigued in the mood to do something health, or just plain in need of hydration, pull this nutrient infused water out of the fridge and have a glass.

Book: Anti-cancer: A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schrieber.

I recommend this book to clients concerned about cancer who want nutritional advice in accordance with a doctor’s advice. This book was written by a scientist and doctor who went beyond conventional medicine to use diet and lifestyle to fight his own cancer. It is well researched, personal and accurate.
